Headed to Fredericksburg to talk Church Planting

I'm headed to Fredericksburg today to talk church planting with some brothers in Christ.  We'll be meeting at New Life in Christ.  NLIC has a crazy vision to plant a bunch of churches throughout this portion of Virginia over the coming 10 years. I love long established churches that are passionate about seeing the kingdom of God advanced through starting new works.  One of the other guys that will be there is a friend of mine from seminary, Leonard Bailey.  Leonard is planting Hope of Christ in Stafford, VA.

Pray for wisdom in our discussions, planning, and scheming for the Kingdom.

And if you are anywhere near Fredericksburg or Stafford, you should check these churches out.

Goodness in a Gym

For a long time our group has gathered in the Public Library for our Sunday Bible studies and worship.  But through God's church-growing-grace we've had to move out of the library and into a private school gymnasium.  Tonight was our first night in our new digs.  Here are some highlights.

  1. A guy I met in a coffee shop 3 weeks ago is now playing guitar for us—and did an excellent job tonight.
  2. A number of people showed up early to set up.  I always heard it but now I know its true—setup is a terrific time for bonding and relationship building.
  3. Our group is still learning to sing well together.  But we had the opportunity to consider together that all our worship is only acceptable to God through the blood of Jesus.
  4. We had a ton of kids who were more than willing to run around the gym afterward providing us with the beautiful background sounds of giggling children.
  5. I had the privilege of preaching Christ from Hebrews 1.  He truly is better than anything or anyone else.  He is the one that takes a group of sinners in a gym on Sunday night and calls them the beloved of God.
