When I Was Sinking Down
I was just listening to "What Wondrous Love is This"—the Rain City Hymnal version. The third verse laid into my soul like a Mack truck.
When I was sinking down,
sinking down, sinking down,
When I was sinking down, sinking down,
When I was sinking down
beneath God’s righteous frown,
Christ laid aside His crown
for my soul, for my soul,
Christ laid aside His crown for my soul.
All I can really answer to this profound verse is the title of the hymn, "What wondrous love is this?" For whatever reason, the classic hymns meditating on the atonement have been laying me low recently. That can only be a good thing for where my soul is. ...to God and to the Lamb, I will sing, I will....
